Widely considered to be one of the most successful London cultural attachés of the past twenty years, Colin Hicks enjoys a high profile as an expert in international cultural relations. His early career as a professional musician and actor have given him a particular authority in the development of international artist careers. A respected pedagogue also, Colin has been involved in several projects designed to hand the expertise of the sector to the next generation and release hidden voices into the creative industries, most notably setting up the community theatre course at Rose Bruford and co-ordinating training projects for Jack Lang’s Ministry of Culture. Artistic Director of the Albany Empire in Deptford during the Thatcher period, a casual encounter with a yuppie drove him to seek employment in the City of London, to gain valuable insights into the workings of the national economy and hone his professional management and computer skills. After serving as Deputy Director at South East Arts he was invited by Québec Government Office in London to develop their new UK cultural service. Colin is multilingual, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a member of British Actor's Equity and the Musicians Union. |
