On December 6th WildWorks organised a final celebration at the Morwenstow Community Centre. Again we sent personal invitations (See Appendix Five ) to members of the community that had been close to the project. Again we put posters up around the village inviting all to attend. Our plan was to show all the work: Children’s boxes, poems and postcards, memory boxes and films. As well as the film we had made ourselves, we had found an archive film of the area from 1944. We ordered cakes from the Rectory Tearooms again... We arranged an exhibition of the work... We set up a big screen cinema to view films old and new... Around 80 community members attended this event. This was an extraordinary celebration of memory and pride of place. Participants spend a long time perusing the children’s work, peering into memory boxes identifying friends and relatives as well as their younger selves, enjoyed watching films featuring their friends and landscape. |
