director.choreographer.performer.teacher Benjamin thought he was going to be a scientist. A production of West Side Story prompted a switch to an Associate Bachelor Degree in Performing Arts, Dance, Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia. He then trained at the Australian Ballet School in Melbourne. He subsequently performed with a multitude of companies in Australia, Ireland and the UK, working with more than 25 directors and choreographers. He started Wildworking in 2005 on their production of ‘A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings’, and, among other things, has played a soldier, an angel and a trumpet in ‘Souterrain’, nurtured plants, guided ice and juggled children in 'The Beautiful Journey', alongside much movement directing and choreographing. He is a creative teaching and learning consultant and has taught dance and theatre to ages and skills ranging from 5yrs to International Festival Masterclasses and company training for both theatre and dance companies. He currently lectures on the BA (Hons) Dance Theatre degree at the University of Plymouth. The degree is focused on enabling students to become expressive and articulate dance theatre makers and scholars. Ben is, with his wife Nicola Rosewarne, one of the originators of 'Doctor Theatre', a comprehensive, subscription based theatre and dance education resource. |
